Name and Type of School.    The official name of the school is Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS) Imeri. The school is a co-educational full-boarding secondary school.


Date of Establishment.           NNSS Imeri was established in the 2012/2013 academic session and received its pioneer students on Saturday 27 October 2012.


Location.    The school is located at Imeri in Ondo State about 85.4km from Akure the state capital. The town is also 44.8km from the ancient town of Owo and 39.2km from Okene, Kogi State. The school occupies a land mass of about 24 hectares a in quiet, serene part of Imeri amenable for teaching and learning.


Purpose.     The purpose of the school is to provide affordable and qualitative education for the children of NN personnel, other services and civilians. Its immediate goal is to emerge as one of the best school in all Nigerian Navy welfare schools.


Leadership and Management. The school is managed by the School Management Committee headed by the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral IE Ibas. Its pioneer Commandant is Commander SA Ogwu who is assisted by the Deputy Commandant, Lieutenant Commander DO Isa. Other members of the School Management team are Vice Principal Admin, Mr Samuel Agoi and the Vice Principal Academics, Mrs Anike Esther Adegoke.


Organisation.      NNSS Imeri has a students’ population is 80 JSS 1 students, comprising 53 boys and 27 girls. The students are organised into 2 arms named after Nigerian Navy Ships. These are JSS 1 Agu and JSS 1 Ayam. Additionally, the students are administered in 4 houses identified by the colours: red, purple, yellow and blue. In due course, the houses would be named after icons of the Nigerian Navy.


School Activities. Though NNSS Imeri is newly established, the school is committed to exploiting the environment and the commitment of the industrious staff, to excel both academically and in co-curricular activities. The students equally are working assiduously to achieving the school’s academic goal of 100 percent academic performance.


Ongoing Developments.         Development of the school infrastructure and plant is ongoing. Indeed, a comprehensive sports complex with standard facilities in tennis, basketball, valleyball, swimming  including general and VIP spectators stands are under construction. When completed the sports complex will be a master piece of international standard.


Future Prospects.          NNSS Imeri is still growing and has the potentials of being a pacesetter in academics and co-curricular activities and to emerge as one of the best schools in all Nigerian Navy welfare schools in particular and the country in general.
